WABrowse respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We are not affiliated with WhatsApp Inc. or Meta Platforms, Inc.

This Privacy Policy applies to the WABrowse website at wabrowse.com ("the Service"). By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described below. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.

  • Account registration: Name, email address, and password when you create an account
  • Listing submissions: Channel/group name, description, WhatsApp URL, category, country, language, and member count
  • Waitlist signups: Name and email address when expressing interest in paid features
  • Contact inquiries: Name, email, and message content when using the contact form
  • Reviews: Review text, rating, and reviewer name

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data: Pages viewed, click events (e.g., "Join on WhatsApp" clicks), search queries, and referral sources
  • Device information: Browser type, operating system, screen resolution, and language preferences
  • IP address: Collected for spam prevention and analytics, stored in anonymized form where possible
  • Cookies: See Section 6 below

2.3 Information We Do Not Collect

  • WhatsApp messages or conversations
  • Your WhatsApp contacts or phone number (unless you voluntarily submit it via a tool)
  • Payment card details (handled by third-party payment processors)

We use collected information to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Process listing submissions and account registrations
  • Moderate content and detect spam or fraudulent submissions
  • Send transactional emails (account verification, password resets)
  • Respond to contact inquiries and support requests
  • Generate anonymized analytics to understand usage patterns
  • Enforce our Terms of Service

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Sharing

We may share your information with:

  • Service providers: Hosting (DigitalOcean), CDN (Cloudflare), analytics (Google Analytics), and email services that help us operate the platform
  • Legal requirements: If required by law, subpoena, or legal process
  • Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets

All service providers are bound by data processing agreements and handle data in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

5. Data Retention

  • Account data: Retained as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time.
  • Listing submissions: Retained indefinitely to maintain the directory, unless removal is requested by the submitter or required by law.
  • Analytics data: Aggregated and anonymized data is retained indefinitely. Raw logs are purged after 90 days.
  • Waitlist signups: Retained until the associated feature launches or you request removal.

6. Cookies & Tracking

WABrowse uses the following types of cookies:

  • Hashed and salted password storage (bcrypt)

  • Cloudflare DDoS protection and WAF

However, no system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

9. Children's Privacy

WABrowse is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. International Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States and the European Union. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
